Coomber Associates were appointed to obtain funding via the Condition Improvement Funding stream following the roll out of free school meals.
CA worked with the Academy Trust to identify locations for development, develop designs, tender the project and undertake bid writing. Following the successful grant of funding, we set about obtaining planning permission and engaging contractors to complete the works.
The dining hall was designed in a specific way to provide commercial kitchen facilities to enable school meals to be prepared and served with a large space dining area. The client wanted to use the space for small games and as a large activity space whilst not in use as a dining area, therefore, tables and chairs needed to be stored. Rather than build a separate storage areas for bulky tables and chairs, fold out facilities were utilised which could be hidden in the walls. This resulted in lower build costs and a smaller footprint.
