
Coomber Associates were appointed following a tendering process to provide a full suite of project services from conception through to completion. The project has provided 35 specialist SEND / SLCN (speech, language and communication needs) places within a mainstream school setting across two separate school sites.
It was a multifaceted project with a split delivery timeline. Over the summer holidays significant works took place within the schools to structurally alter and refurbishment the existing buildings to form the bases within the buildings to ensure the specialist provision was inclusive to the pupils using the bases. The displaced areas had to be re-allocated elsewhere within the grounds; two modular buildings were designed, purchased and installed via a framework tender. The buildings were delivered during term time in to a ‘live’ school environment which required careful management to reduce impact to the school’s daily schedules and routines.
